Adsorption of Heavy Metals in Contaminated Water Using Zeolite Derived from Agro-Wastes and Clays: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Due to climate change and anthropogenic activities such as agriculture, mining, urbanization, water contamination has become a very real modern problem. Modern solutions activated carbon, reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, among others, have been employed in the decontamination of water. These methods are, however, expensive set up maintain therefore proved challenge implement developing countries. Zeolite materials exhibit excellent structural properties, high ion exchange capacity, porosity, relative surface area, which make them attractive processes. However, conventional zeolites are expensive, recent research focused on utilizing low-cost agro-wastes clays raw for synthesis zeolites. This review aims discuss role their removal heavy metals feasibility natural Recent studies based from application metal reviewed discussed. Agro-wastes rice husk ash sugarcane bagasse layered silicate kaolinite smectites particularly interest zeolite due silica alumina ratio. Zeolites synthesized through various hydrothermal, molten salt, microwave irradiation discussed with effect adsorption metals.

Adsorption of heavy metals (Cu, Mn, Fe and Ni) from surface water using Oreochromis niloticus scales

Surface water contains a large number of pollutants, particularly human pathogens, organic toxicants and heavy metals. Due to the toxic nature of heavy metals towards marine organisms, its removal from the environment has been a growing issue. The biosorption of heavy metal ions from surface water using fish scales has emerged as an environmentally friendly technique. This study assessed the de...

Low-cost adsorbents for heavy metals uptake from contaminated water: a review.

In this article, the technical feasibility of various low-cost adsorbents for heavy metal removal from contaminated water has been reviewed. Instead of using commercial activated carbon, researchers have worked on inexpensive materials, such as chitosan, zeolites, and other adsorbents, which have high adsorption capacity and are locally available. The results of their removal performance are co...
